SBSO NEEDS PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING MAN WANTED FOR THEFT

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying an adult male who is wanted for stealing a wallet out of a woman’s purse while she was shopping at a Chalmette business last week, St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies with the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division responded to a call for service from a resident who said her wallet had been stolen and her credit card was used to make unauthorized purchases at several businesses.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau obtained video surveillance of the incident that occured on May 29 around 1:30 p.m. at a business in the 8400 block of West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

The video showed the male suspect reach into the victim’s purse while she wasn’t looking, retrieve her wallet and then leave the business shortly after.

Detectives also learned the suspect used the victim’s credit card to purchase merchandise and several Visa gift cards from at least two local businesses.

The suspect is a black male who appears to be at least 6’ tall. He was seen driving a white older model Ford Escape.

Anyone knowing the identity and/or whereabouts of this suspect, or any other information relating to this incident is asked to call the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501, the Criminal Investigations Bureau’s tip hotline at (504) 271-TIPS or 8477, or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. SBSO ARRESTS WOMAN WANTED BY NOPD FOR ARMED ROBBERY

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman wanted by the New Orleans Police Department for her involvement in an armed robbery that took place in Orleans Parish, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Louisnique Ceaser, 28, of the 300 block of East Magnolia Drive in Chalmette, was booked April 27 with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm.

After obtaining information from NOPD that Ceaser may be in St. Bernard Parish, agents with the Special Investigations Division opened an investigation, Sheriff Pohlmann said.

During the course of their investigation with NOPD, agents conducted a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Paris Road in Chalmette on a red Honda Crossover believed to be driven by Ceaser.

A criminal history check was performed on Ceaser which confirmed her identity and revealed the outstanding warrants for the charges listed above, as well as several other outstanding warrants for traffic violations out of Gretna.

During the traffic stop, agents recovered an unloaded .9mm SIG magazine from Ceaser’s vehicle.

Ceaser was taken into custody without incident and transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office books two New Orleans men in stolen vehicle investigation, issues arrest warrant for third

A New Orleans man was booked after he fled from deputies in a stolen vehicle and struck an officer with the vehicle, St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said. A second New Orleans man also was booked in connection with the investigation, and an arrest warrant has been issued for a third.

Tyrin Hamilton, 21, of the 9000 block of Bunker Hill Road in New Orleans, was booked with two counts of possession of stolen property and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a police officer.

Maurice Hicks Jr., 19, of the 2900 block of Toledano Street in New Orleans, was booked with two counts of possession of stolen property.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Devonte Smith, 19, of the 9000 block of Bunker Hill Road in New Orleans, for two counts of possession of stolen property.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies were in Arabi investigating a report of a stolen vehicle received through the License Plate Recognition camera system.

When deputies came into contact with the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Judge Perez Drive and Government Street in Arabi, the driver, later identified as Hamilton, sped toward the deputy, striking him with the vehicle.

As the vehicle sped toward the deputy, he fired at the vehicle, striking Hamilton.

Hamilton was apprehended at the hospital after he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries, Sheriff Pohlmann said.

The deputy involved in the incident also was transported to the hospital for treatment and was released.

Sheriff Pohlmann credits the use of LPR camera system technology with the growing number of stolen vehicle apprehensions in St. Bernard. He wants criminals to know he will not tolerate them entering St. Bernard Parish in stolen vehicles and then fleeing from deputies.

“You’re not going to put my citizens at risk and my deputies at risk and not have any consequences. We are going to catch you and we are going to take you to jail. If you try to run over a deputy, you are putting yourself at risk as well.”

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office books two men with armed robbery, issues warrant for third.

**UPDATE** Cory Kelly is now in custody.

Two men were booked Nov. 5 in connection with an armed robbery in Meraux, and an arrest warrant has been issued for a third, St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Cory Catanese, 26, of the 3000 block of Judy Drive in Meraux, and Jermaine Miller, 37, of the 2400 block of Cora Ann Street in Violet, were both booked with four counts of armed robbery.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Cory Kelly, 30, of the 2100 block of Livaccari Drive in Violet, for four counts of armed robbery.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Nov. 5, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery in the 2800 block of Munster Boulevard in Meraux.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they came into contact with four victims who said two masked gunmen approached one of them in their driveway, brandished an AR-15 style rifle and demanded entry into their home.

The victims said the suspects made one of them enter a bedroom and open a safe. The suspects took pain medication and $100 in cash and fled the scene.

Through eyewitness accounts, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify Catanese as one of the suspects. A search warrant was executed on Catanese’s home, where detectives apprehended Catanese and Miller.

Kelly was identified through the use of video surveillance.

Detectives have reason to believe the men were aware one of the victims had just filled a prescription for pain medication.

The victims were not injured during the incident and the gun used in the robbery was recovered, Sheriff Pohlmann said.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Cory Kelly, or other information about the case, is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501 or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. Tipsters who call Crimestoppers can remain anonymous, do not have to testify and could be eligible for a cash reward.
