Sheriff Randy Smith would like to thank Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann and the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office as well as the US Marshals Service for the assistance they provided to the STPSO detectives in quickly locating and apprehending Derick Fehn, who was wanted on murder charges following a shooting that occurred in the Slidell area Sunday.

Times for legal use of fireworks in St. Bernard Parish

According to St. Bernard Parish ordinance, here are the times when fireworks can legally be used in the parish surrounding the 4th of July celebration:

From June 25 through July 4, fireworks can legally be used from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.

On July 5, they can be used from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., when all use of fireworks must end for the 4th of July period.

Any use outside these hours would be considered illegal disturbing of the peace.

Eastbound LA 46, from Poland Avenue to Egania Street – left lane closures from Monday, February 22, 2021 until Friday, February 26, 2021, from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM; while crews perform median work.

Westbound LA 46, from Egania Street to Poland Avenue – left lane closures from Monday, February 22, 2021 until Friday, February 26, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM; while crews perform median work.

Eastbound and Westbound LA 46, from the Franklin Avenue to Delery Street – alternating shoulder closures from Monday, February 22, 2021 until Friday, February 26, 2021 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM; while crews perform handicapped curb ramp work.

All work associated with these lane closures is weather permitting.
