SBSO SEEKING TWO MEN IN CONNECTION WITH ARMED ROBBERY

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for a New Orleans man and named another man a person of interest in connection with a recent armed robbery in Arabi, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Mitchell Craft, 39, of the 200 block of Maumus Street in New Orleans, is wanted in connection with the armed robbery which occurred Sept. 11 on Lebeau Street in Arabi.

Another man has been named a person of interest in the incident and is wanted for questioning. He is a black male with a slender build and short, cropped hair.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating Craft and identifying the person of interest.

On Sept. 11, shortly before midnight, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service in reference to an armed robbery that occurred in the 1000 block of Lebeau Street.

When deputies arrived on the scene they were met by a male victim who said he was followed by a man, later identified as Craft, from a business in Kenner to a residence on Lebeau.

The victim said Craft approached him in the driveway of the residence, brandished a weapon, and demanded his money. Craft fled the scene in a dark 2021 Toyota Camry bearing Louisiana License tag 290EPR.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau said citizens who want to share information about this incident or the whereabouts of Craft or the person of interest in this case can do so by calling the Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501. St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrests two Chalmette men on narcotics charges

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Chalmette man and his nephew on various narcotics charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Robert Metzler, 57, and Jason Metzler, 42, both of the 2500 block of Trio Street in Chalmette, were both booked with possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute oxycodone, possession with the intent to distribute oxymorphone, possession with the intent to distribute carisoprodol and one outstanding arrest warrant each.

After obtaining information that Robert Metzler was involved in illegal drug activity in St. Bernard, Narcotics Unit agents opened an investigation. Based on their findings, agents obtained a permission to search for his residence, Sheriff Pohlmann said.

During the investigation, agents recovered approximately 120 grams of heroin, 16 grams of cocaine, 27 tablets of oxycodone, 36 tablets of oxymorphone, 12 tablets of carisoprodol, with a combined street value of more than $14,000.

Agents also recovered more than $45,000 in cash.

Criminal history checks were conducted on both subjects, which revealed Robert Metzler has several prior arrests for burglary, theft and illegal narcotics out of St. Bernard and Orleans parishes.

Jason Metzler has several prior arrests for illegal narcotics out of St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes.

Both Robert and Jason Metzler were transported to the St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrests two men for illegally firing a weapon in Chalmette

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men for firing a weapon at a vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Chalmette on Wednesday, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Khristopher Lewis, 28, of the 4100 block of Frenchman Street in New Orleans, and Kyron Fazande, 19, of the 3800 block of Charles Drive in Chalmette, were both booked with illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, obstruction of justice, aggravated criminal damage to property, simple criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Sheriff Pohmann said, deputies responded to a call about shots fired near Delambert and East Solidelle Streets in Chalmette.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they located several spent casings in the 3300 block of Delambert and the 400 block of East Solidelle streets. They also came into contact with several subjects at a residence in the 400 block of East Solidelle Street.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the subjects as Lewis and Fazande, and confirm they exchanged gunfire with unknown subjects in a black in color sedan which approached them as they were walking down Delambert Street.

Based on information they learned, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence in the 400 block of East Solidelle.

Sheriff Pohlmann said detectives recovered in a shed located on the property a Glock 19 .9mm which contained an unspent .9mm casing and multiple .9mm unspent casings inside the magazine, and a silver .45 caliber Kimber firearm and magazine which was listed out of Jefferson Parish as stolen. They also obtained a clear plastic bag containing marijuana.

During the incident, an unoccupied truck parked nearby was struck by a stray bullet from the incident, and a car, which was occupied by two females, was struck with another bullet during the incident.

Sheriff Pohlmann said no one was injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrest two New Orleans men
on various narcotics and weapons charges following traffic stop

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two New Orleans men on various narcotics and weapons charges, and seized two stolen firearms following a traffic stop, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

John Edwards, 34, of the 12000 block of I-10 Service Road in New Orleans, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute Ecstasy (MDMA), possession with the intent to distribute Suboxone, possession of marijuana, possession of Percocet, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.

Byron Williams, 30, of the 1800 block of St. Andrews Street in New Orleans, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy (MDMA), possession with the intent to distribute Suboxone, possession of marijuana, possession of Percocet, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Jan. 2, around 7:30 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, a deputy with the Field Operations Bureau’s Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop for no license plate displayed on a silver 2007 Chevrolet Impala near the intersection of Paris Road and West Urquhart Street in Chalmette.

During the traffic stop, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle.

Following a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered marijuana, more than 330 grams of heroin with a street value of more than $30,000, 19 tablets of Ecstasy (MDMA) with a street value of $285, 28 packets of Suboxone with a street value of $560, 29 tablets of Percocet with a street value of $290, a digital scale, numerous clear plastic bags, and $755 in cash.

Deputies also recovered a .9mm handgun and a Diamondback Radical AR-15 firearm, both reported as stolen out of New Orleans.

A criminal history check was conducted on both Edwards and Williams, which revealed Edwards has several prior narcotics and weapons charges.

Edwards and Williams were both transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.
