St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in Chalmette
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occured Saturday shortly before midnight in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
On Saturday, May 1, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about a shooting at the intersection of Juno Drive and Patricia Street in Chalmette.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they observed a male victim lying on the sidewalk near the corner of Juno and Patricia with a gunshot wound to his right side. Deputies also found another male victim on Patricia Street who had been shot in the left foot.
The two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, told deputies they were walking on Patricia Street toward Juno Drive when the occupants of a dark in color SUV traveling eastbound on Patricia began shooting at them. The vehicle fled eastbound on Patricia Street toward Paris Road.
Both victims were transported to University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. The 15-year-old who was shot in his side is reported to be in stable condition. No information was available on the 16-year-old who was shot in the foot.
Sheriff Pohlmann said no one else was injured in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

involving a four-wheeler and dirt bike in Poydras
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving two off-road motorized vehicles that claimed the life of a teenager this weekend in Poydras, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
On Sunday, Feb. 7, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service following an accident involving a four-wheeler and a dirt bike along the Mississippi River levee near the 7500 block of Saro Lane in Poydras.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 16-year-old male unconscious and suffering from injuries he sustained when the dirt bike he was riding collided with a four-wheeler driven by a 13-year-old male.
During the investigation, deputies learned a group of teens had been riding motorized vehicles along the levee when the two teens crashed into each other.
The 16 year old was transported to University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The 13 year old was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was released.
The investigation is ongoing.
“We are saddened for this family to have lost a loved one in this way, especially at such a young age,” the Sheriff said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to them during this difficult time.”

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old male victim that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 3 in the 2200 block of Caluda Lane in Violet, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
The investigation is ongoing.
