St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in Chalmette
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occured Saturday shortly before midnight in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
On Saturday, May 1, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about a shooting at the intersection of Juno Drive and Patricia Street in Chalmette.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they observed a male victim lying on the sidewalk near the corner of Juno and Patricia with a gunshot wound to his right side. Deputies also found another male victim on Patricia Street who had been shot in the left foot.
The two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, told deputies they were walking on Patricia Street toward Juno Drive when the occupants of a dark in color SUV traveling eastbound on Patricia began shooting at them. The vehicle fled eastbound on Patricia Street toward Paris Road.
Both victims were transported to University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. The 15-year-old who was shot in his side is reported to be in stable condition. No information was available on the 16-year-old who was shot in the foot.
Sheriff Pohlmann said no one else was injured in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Chalmette man and his nephew on various narcotics charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Robert Metzler, 57, and Jason Metzler, 42, both of the 2500 block of Trio Street in Chalmette, were both booked with possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute oxycodone, possession with the intent to distribute oxymorphone, possession with the intent to distribute carisoprodol and one outstanding arrest warrant each.
After obtaining information that Robert Metzler was involved in illegal drug activity in St. Bernard, Narcotics Unit agents opened an investigation. Based on their findings, agents obtained a permission to search for his residence, Sheriff Pohlmann said.
During the investigation, agents recovered approximately 120 grams of heroin, 16 grams of cocaine, 27 tablets of oxycodone, 36 tablets of oxymorphone, 12 tablets of carisoprodol, with a combined street value of more than $14,000.
Agents also recovered more than $45,000 in cash.
Criminal history checks were conducted on both subjects, which revealed Robert Metzler has several prior arrests for burglary, theft and illegal narcotics out of St. Bernard and Orleans parishes.

Both Robert and Jason Metzler were transported to the St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a Chalmette teen whose family has been looking for her since Jan. 15, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Tiani Arrieta-Rodas, 15, is a hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5’5” tall and weighs 180 llbs. Tiani, who has run away from home before, was last seen by her family at their home in the 2300 block of Marietta Street in Chalmette.

shuts down clandestine laboratory
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Chalmette man for operating a clandestine laboratory out of his home, and seized a handgun and a large amount of narcotics and cash, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Jake Tassin, 46, of the 3500 block of Pakenham Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, operation of a clandestine laboratory, felony conviction in possession of firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Jan. 28, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmmann said, deputies with the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division responded to a call for service in reference to a domestic dispute in the 3500 block of Pakenham Drive in Chalmette.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned one of the occupants of the home, later identified as Tassin, had recently acquired a large amount of illegal narcotics.
Based on these findings, agents with the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant for the residence.
During the search, Sheriff Pohlmann said, agents recovered 1.44 kilograms of heroin with an estimated street value of $143,000, 1.006 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000, and 17 ounces of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $49,000, making this one of the largest seizures of heroin and cocaine in a single case in St. Bernard Parish in several years.
Sheriff Pohlmann said agents also recovered a handgun, $31,828.00 in cash, and manufacturing equipment and packaging material.
A criminal history check was conducted on Tassin which revealed he has an extensive criminal history consisting of numerous felony drug and weapons charges with three prior convictions.
Tassin was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison where he was booked on the above charges.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrests two men for illegally firing a weapon in Chalmette
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men for firing a weapon at a vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Chalmette on Wednesday, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Khristopher Lewis, 28, of the 4100 block of Frenchman Street in New Orleans, and Kyron Fazande, 19, of the 3800 block of Charles Drive in Chalmette, were both booked with illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, obstruction of justice, aggravated criminal damage to property, simple criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana.
On Thursday, Jan. 28, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Sheriff Pohmann said, deputies responded to a call about shots fired near Delambert and East Solidelle Streets in Chalmette.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they located several spent casings in the 3300 block of Delambert and the 400 block of East Solidelle streets. They also came into contact with several subjects at a residence in the 400 block of East Solidelle Street.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the subjects as Lewis and Fazande, and confirm they exchanged gunfire with unknown subjects in a black in color sedan which approached them as they were walking down Delambert Street.
Based on information they learned, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence in the 400 block of East Solidelle.
Sheriff Pohlmann said detectives recovered in a shed located on the property a Glock 19 .9mm which contained an unspent .9mm casing and multiple .9mm unspent casings inside the magazine, and a silver .45 caliber Kimber firearm and magazine which was listed out of Jefferson Parish as stolen. They also obtained a clear plastic bag containing marijuana.
During the incident, an unoccupied truck parked nearby was struck by a stray bullet from the incident, and a car, which was occupied by two females, was struck with another bullet during the incident.
Sheriff Pohlmann said no one was injured in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office searching for missing Chalmette woman
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a 32-year-old Chalmette woman who has been missing since mid-December, 2020, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Tiffany Chatham was last seen in the Arabi and lower Ninth Ward areas where she is known to frequent.
Chatham is 5’1′ tall and weighs about 125 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Chalmette man for firing a weapon at a vehicle following an altercation with someone in the parking lot of a Meraux business on Tuesday, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Joel Anderson, 23, of the 3500 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette, was booked with illegal discharge of a weapon, aggravated assault with a firearm and obstruction of justice.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, at approximately 6 p.m., Sheriff Pohmann said, deputies responded to a call about shots fired near a business in the 2500 block of Archbishop Hannan Boulevard in Meraux.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the suspects involved had fled, but several spent casings were located in the parking lot.
Through video surveillance and eyewitness accounts, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify one of the vehicles involved to be a silver 2014 Chevrolet Impala registered to Anderson.
During the course of the investigation, detectives located Anderson’s vehicle backed in the driveway of a residence in the 300 block of East Solidelle Street in Chalmette. Once in custody, Anderson admitted his involvement and to firing his weapon.
Sheriff Pohlmann said detectives recovered the .22 caliber handgun used by Anderson in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
