A seafood lunch will be held Friday, July 17, starting at 11 a.m. as a fundraiser to benefit Dep. Sheriff Lt. Ray Whitfield who has been out because of a lengthy illness.

Lunches to go will be sold for $10 each outside the Sheriff’s Office Annex behind the Parish Courthouse at No. 2 Courthouse Square in Chalmette.

“We invite everyone to come out and help Lt. Ray Whitfield, who has done his part over the years to help the people of this parish,” Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Whitfield has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1991, working as a patrol deputy and as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

He is also a 2013 graduate of the prestigious FBI National Training Academy in Quantico, Va., the 19th St. Bernard Sheriff’s Deputy to complete the 10-week session.
