The Hero One Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Car will ride in this weekend’s Knights of Nemesis Carnival parade set to roll Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. in Chalmette. The unit will be at the beginning of the parade, directly behind the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Mobile Command Center.

The 2002 Ford Crown Victoria travels around the state, serving as a memorial for fallen law enforcement officers within the state of Louisiana.

Hero One, a project spearheaded by Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Det. Paul Sperandeo, was made possible through various donations from local law enforcement agencies, businesses and individuals, including Claudia Calvert, the mother of fallen JPSO Dep. Joshua Norris who died in the line of duty in 2007 at the age of 22 after just one year of service. The vehicle was Norris’ unit at the time of his death.

In addition to being a traveling ambassador for fallen officers at memorial services throughout the state, Hero One also attends various fundraisers and now Carnival parades.
