Free Child Safety Seat Check Event in Metairie, LA

Troop B – On Saturday, March 15, 2014, Louisiana State Police Troop B, LSU Interim Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will be hosting a free child safety seat inspection station. The inspection station will be at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 8912 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, LA 70003 from 10 AM – 1 PM, no appointments necessary. This service is FREE to anyone who wishes to have their child seats inspected and installed properly by certified child safety technicians.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children. Louisiana State Law requires the driver of a motor vehicle to ensure that EVERY child under the age of thirteen years in a motor vehicle equipped with safety belts is properly secured, regardless of seating position in the vehicle. Many deaths and injuries can be prevented by properly using child safety seats.

96% of child safety seats are installed improperly. Please visit the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Saturday, March 15, 2014 and speak with a technician that will show the parent/caregiver how to properly install the child restraint and ensure that the child is in the appropriate age/weight child seat.

Also, Louisiana State Police Troop B has a weekly fitting station if a parent/caregiver cannot attend on Saturday. Troop B inspects and installs child seats every Wednesday (excluding holidays) from 1 PM – 4 PM at Troop B.
