St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office books Chalmette man with first degree armed robbery of Chalmette business
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Chalmette man for robbing a Chalmette business in the early morning hours of July 3, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Scott Barrilleaux, 42, of the 3000 block of Veronica Drive in Chalmette, was booked with first degree armed robbery for implying he had a weapon and robbing a store clerk.
Shortly before 8:30 a.m. on July 3, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery at a business in the 900 block of East Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they met with store employees who said the suspect placed some candy on the counter, implied he had a weapon and demanded money from the register. They said the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
After canvassing the area, detectives apprehended Barrilleaux a few blocks away in front of his home, in possession of the cash.
Barrilleaux, who was identified through video surveillance, admitted to committing the robbery and implying he had a weapon.
Sheriff Pohlmann said no one was injured in the incident.
During the course of the investigation, detectives learned Barrilleaux was wanted on two outstanding warrants out of St. Bernard for missing court.
Barrilleaux was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked. His bond has not yet been set.
