St. Bernard Community Anti-Drug Coalition to hold public meeting on Tuesday, Oct, 14 at Docville Farm

The next meeting of the St. Bernard Community Anti-Drug Coalition will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 9:30am at the offices of Docville Farm at 5128 E. St Bernard Hwy. in Violet, which is between the highway and the Mississippi River.

Meetings of the Coalition board are open to the public and are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

Residents are urged to attend and learn what they can do to take part in future activities for young people in St. Bernard Parish – all with a goal of reducing drug abuse in St. Bernard.

The new Coalition of community activist including Sheriff James Pohlmann, board Chairman Dan Schneider, school system officials, pastors and others, works towards developing community-wide programs and providing information on resources available for those looking for rehab help for themselves or others.

At the Oct. 14 Coalition meeting, Yolanda Webb and Dr. Michael Smith of Metropolitan Human Services District will be giving a presentation on the services this state agency offers in St. Bernard and other parishes.

MHSD assists communities in providing and accessing resources for people with mental health issues, addictive disorders, and/or developmental disabilities.
