St. Bernard Parish’s Sheriff Office has had a role in the Super Bowl played in New Orleans.

Six sheriff’s deputies, two from the Bomb Squad and four from the Traffic Division, took part in Super Bowl functions for the big game, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Sgt. Chris Scheeler and Sgt. Stephen Ingargiola, who handle Bomb Squad duties as well as work in the Patrol Division of the Sheriff’s Office, worked with the FBI as part of security for the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The Bomb Squad comes under the command of Maj. Mark Poche.

From the Traffic Division, Lt. Mike Ingargiola, Lt. Brent Bourgeois, Cpl. Terry Meyer and Dep. Tommy Duplessis were part of motorcycle escorts with the New Orleans Police Department. Capt. Walter Dornan heads the Traffic Division.
