ST. CLAUDE AVENUE BRIDGE (LA 46)
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ construction of a new guidewall adjacent to the St. Claude Avenue Bridge will require daily closures of the right lane of the eastbound roadway
St. Claude Avenue Bridge – Traffic Closure Schedule:
Eastbound Roadway (Right Lane Only) &
South Pedestrian Walkway (near the Mississippi River)
November 30th – December 10th (including Saturday & Sunday)
6:30 AM – 3:30 PM daily
The westbound roadway and the north pedestrian walkway (near the Lock) will not be affected by the construction activities, and the bridge will operate normally for marine traffic. Motorists should expect delays and pedestrians are urged to use the walkway along the north side of the bridge.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrests Meraux man for impersonating a police officer
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Meraux man for pretending to be a police officer and conducting a traffic stop on a motorist, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Ronald Zimmer, 47, of the 3100 block of East Judge Perez Drive in Meraux, was booked Dec. 4 with impersonating a police officer. He also was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license, switched license plate and failure to register his vehicle.
On Friday, Dec. 4, shortly before 11 a.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies with the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division responded to a call about a suspicious motorist impersonating a police officer near the intersection of East Judge Perez Drive and Bartolo Drive in Meraux.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the suspect vehicle had already fled, but deputies came into contact with the victim who stated a man in a blue four-door sedan with flashing lights attempted to pull him over, forcing him off the road.
The victim said the suspect exited his vehicle, and produced a badge, but it was obvious the man was not a police officer. After the two men exchanged words, the victim said the suspect returned to his vehicle and fled.
During the course of the investigation, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a blue 2000 Mercury Marquis nearby in Chalmette. Inside the vehicle, driven by Zimmer, deputies found flashing lights and a German Shepherd dog.
Zimmer was not able to produce for deputies any documentation that would give him authorization to conduct a traffic stop on a motorist. Deputies also learned Zimmer’s driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle’s license plate was registered to a different vehicle owned by Zimmer.
Zimmer was taken into custody and transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrests New Orleans man
in connection with Arabi carjacking
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Orleans man involved in a carjacking that took place in the early morning hours of Thursday, Dec. 3 in Old Arabi, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Germaine Moses, 25, of the 7800 block of Venice Boulevard in New Orleans, was booked with armed robbery and carjacking.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, Sheriff Pohlmann said, a male victim arrived at the 911 Communications Center in the 8000 block of West St. Bernard Highway in Arabi to report a carjacking that occurred at approximately 1 a.m. at the corner of Mehle Avenue and North Peters Street in Old Arabi, near the Mississippi River levee.
The victim said a Chevrolet Malibu occupied by two black males pulled up next to him and his vehicle. They exited their vehicle, the victim said, brandished a handgun and ordered him to the ground.
The victim said the men took his car keys, cellphone and his wallet, and fled the scene towards New Orleans in his 2015 black Nissan Altima and the Malibu.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to locate Moses with the Malibu used in the incident at a location in the 7800 block of Venice Street in New Orleans.
When detectives came into contact with Moses, he fled on foot, but was apprehended quickly by detectives with assistance from the New Orleans Police Department. Detectives recovered a firearm at the scene, Sheriff Pohlmann said.
The investigation is ongoing.
