St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrest six for possession of marijuana,
seize guns after receiving drug hotline tip
Five adults and one juvenile from St. Bernard Parish were recently arrested on various charges, including possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen handgun and child endangerment, after deputies acted on information received through the Sheriff’s Office drug activity tip line, St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Jiame Guzman, 18, of the 3400 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession of marijuana, two counts of child endangerment, possession of a stolen fireman, and possession of a firearm while in possession of controlled dangerous substance.
Raymen Guzman, 21, of the 3400 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of child endangerment.
Juliana Depaula, 19, of the 3400 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of child endangerment.
Michael Abarca, 25, of the 3400 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession of marijuana, possession of THC oil, possession of Tramadol, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Paris Bordelon, 24, of the 3400 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession of marijuana, possession of THC oil, possession of Tramadol, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 17-year-old male from Violet also was booked in the case with possession of marijuana.
On April 3, Sheriff Pohlmann said, agents with the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation based on information received through the Sheriff’s Office 271-DOPE hotline about drug activity at a residence in the 3400 block of Jacob Drive in Chalmette.
Based on their findings, agents obtained a search warrant for the home, where they recovered several plastic bags and glass containers containing a total of approximately 72 grams of marijuana, as well as 8 cartridges of Dank Vapes with THC oil, 51 doses of 225 mg Tramadol blister packs, and a marijuana grinder.
Sheriff Pohlmann said agents also recovered a .40 caliber Glock Model 22 handgun, listed as stolen out of St. Bernard Parish, and a 7.62 caliber semi-automatic rifle along with four fully-loaded, 30-round magazines.
Sheriff Pohlmann reminds residents to call the Sheriff’s Office narcotics hotline at (504) 271-DOPE or 3673 to report suspected illegal drug activity in St. Bernard Parish. Callers can remain anonymous, and all calls will be acted upon.

St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann and members of the Sheriff’s Office were among the volunteers to help St. Bernard Parish special-needs students have their turn in the spotlight on March 29 at the St. Bernard Parish Public School System’s 2019 Louisiana Special Olympics.
More than 100 students participated in this year’s event which took place on the track and football fields at Chalmette High School’s Bobby Nuss Stadium.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau and Special Investigations Division assisted special-needs students as they competed in a variety of track and field events throughout the day, including the softball throw, standing long jump, 100-meter run and wheelchair race.

More than 100 students are expected to participate in this year’s event which will take place on the track and football fields at Chalmette High School’s Bobby Nuss Stadium, 1100 E. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.
Sheriff Pohlmann said members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau and Special Investigations Division will assist special-needs students compete in a variety of track and field events throughout the day, including the softball throw, standing long jump, 100-meter run and wheelchair race.

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office on patrol at Louisiana Crawfish Festival
St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said deputies are on patrol at this weekend’s Louisiana Crawfish Festival as it celebrates its 44th year of serving up the tasty crustaceans every way imaginable.
Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Archbishop Rummel Council 5747, the festival opened on Thursday and will run through Sunday. The fair will close today at midnight, and Sunday hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies are walking the grounds and keeping a watchful eye on the crowd from high above in the department’s Sky Watch center. The department’s Mobile Emergency Operations Center also is on the grounds.
The event draws more than 100,000 spectators annually who descend on the grounds of the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette to enjoy live music, rides, crafts and plenty of boiled crawfish, as well as specialty dishes like crawfish bread, crawfish soup and crawfish étouffée.
