An annual children’s workshop and safety day at Home Depot drew a nice crowd Oct. 1 as families took part in workshops where kids were shown how to make things and they saw special displays from local agencies including the Sheriff’s Office, the Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance Service.
Sheriff James Pohlmann attended and the Sheriff’s Office brought out various equipment including its popular bomb robot, airboat, SWAT truck, remote control car for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education or D.A.R.E. program, motorcycles and also gave out items for kids.
The parish Fire Department displayed a fire truck and its popular smoke house to show kids how to escape a fire while Acadian Ambulance Service showed children the inside of an ambulance and how patients are attended to.
